Carole Middleton’s decision to take part in two interviews amid reports of a feud between her daughter Kate and Meghan Markle has reportedly left royal insiders “baffled”.
The Duchess of Cambridge’s mum has spoken out in two high profile chats after many years of public silence, The Sun reports.
Now royal observers are questioning the timing of the interviews as the duchesses find themselves at the centre of rift rumours.
As reports circulate about the pair falling out at least a year ago Carole, 63, gave her first ever newspaper interview with The Telegraph at the weekend and spoke with Good Housekeeping.

The Daily Mail reports that the decision “has left courtiers baffled and also a little uneasy”.
The interviews had apparently been set up to celebrate 30 years of the Middletons’ business Party Pieces.
But the paper adds that Meghan’s arrival “has undoubtedly upset this particular royal applecart”.
It states: “Carole’s decision to speak now, however coincidental, has only served to add to the intrigue. Inevitably, the question being asked yesterday was why Carole chose now to break her silence.”
A source said: “Make no mistake, Carole would not have done it if there had been any objections.
“In all these years, she hasn’t put a foot wrong.”
Pregnant Meghan and Prince Harry, 34, will be leaving the home they currently share with the Cambridges at Kensington Palace.
Household staff were also reportedly left astounded when she demanded air fresheners to fix the “musty” smell at St George’s Chapel before her wedding, but Buckingham Palace officials said no.
And recently her assistant of just six months, Melissa Toubati, who played a “pivotal role in the success of the Royal Wedding”, quit the job after “putting up with a lot”.
Meghan and Kate are said to have fallen out as early as last Christmas when the former Suits star apparently suggested she did not feel entirely welcome with all members of the royal Family.

One of the rumours, none of which have been confirmed, include Meghan causing Kate Middleton to cry after a bridesmaid fitting for her daughter Charlotte.
Prince Harry, 34, has also allegedly been throwing his weight around, angered that neither his brother, Prince William, or courtiers have been “rolling out the red carpet” for his bride.
Prince Charles is said to have tried to smooth things over with an invite to Anmer Hall — William and Kate’s country home — but it backfired and the couples reportedly had a “ghastly row”.
Carole used the media appearance to also say she has stopped reading stories about herself over a year ago amid claims she’s a “pushy parent”.
The businesswoman has come under intense scrutiny from the media as the grandmother of the future king of Britain.
She also revealed she gets George and Charlotte their own Christmas trees each year.
Carole — who spent the first six months of her life living in a council flat in Ealing and left school at 16 — said she’s found it’s “proved wise not to say anything” publicly over the years of her daughter’s astonishing fame.
