SPRINGFIELD, Mass. —The Western New England University chapter of Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society welcomed 45 College of Business students Nov. 1: Jennifer Arling, majoring in marketing communication/advertising, from Cromwell; Isabella Lombardo, majoring in marketing communication/advertising, from Middletown.
Founded in 1924, Alpha Lambda Delta is a national honor society for first-year students that encourages and recognizes superior academic achievement. Alpha Lambda Delta seeks to promote intelligent living, a continued high standard of learning, and encourages students to recognize and develop meaningful goals for their roles in society.
Acceptance is based on attaining a minimum grade-point average of 3.50 in their first semester of study or a 3.50 cumulative average at the end of the first year.
Assumption College
WORCESTER, Mass. — The Assumption College Honors Program inducted 68 new members Nov. 10, including Kasey Goggins, of Middletown, class of 2023.
The program, available to students of all majors and interests, provides a comprehensive and interdisciplinary education that prepares students for successful careers and meaningful lives. The honors community is designed for those looking for a challenging and holistic educational experience, as well as those looking for social engagement with like-minded classmates.
Eastern Connecticut State University
WILLIMANTIC — A group of student leaders at Eastern Connecticut State University were student orientation counselors for the Student Orientation, Advising and Registration program over the summer. SOAR is the university’s summer orientation program for new and incoming students. Among the students were Emily St Lawrence, ‘20, of Higganum, who majors in communications.
The goal of SOAR is to help new students transition to college through immersive two-day sessions on campus. During the sessions, students break up into groups and are guided through the orientation by SOCs. SOCs are current students who have held leadership roles in the past, such as peer mentors, advisors and resident assistants.
